2025 New Year’s Resolutions Check-In
Hi everyone!
Happy Wednesday!
I hope you are having a great week! Can you believe it is the first week of July!? Summer is going by way too fast. I have a busy weekend ahead with the Fourth of July, a grad party, and lots of family in town visiting. It will be a memorable weekend for sure and I can’t wait.
I’ve been able to enjoy lots of sunshine and slow afternoons- a favorite for sure!
Not only is summer going by too fast, but so is 2025! I feel like I was just filling out my planner for the new year and we are already half way through.
During the summer months, I always like to take the time to reflect and do a little bit of a check in on my New Year’s Resolutions. It’s a good time to see what I have accomplished and what I still want to do.
I did a post about my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025, you can read about it here.
But as a quick refresher, here is what I set out to accomplish this year:
-Run a half marathon
-Read 70 Books
-Learn How to Bake Bread
-Learn how to iron
-Get more involved in my community
Seven months into the new year and I have made progress in each of my goals.
I have been training for my first half-marathon since April and my race is just over three weeks away. I have learned a lot about myself through these past several weeks, the biggest being that running for fun is much different than training for a race. I will share more about what I’ve learned through the process after my race, but it certainly has been a lesson in endurance and discipline. But, I really have enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to my race.
A look at one of my shorter, training days.
I have been doing a lot of reading this year, from physical books, to digital books, and audio books. I love reading and getting lost in different worlds. I sometimes do so much reading that I find myself reading multiple books at one time, which I am putting a temporary pause on. So far, in 2025 I have read 42 books with a goal to read 70 books by the end of the year. I think I can accomplish that goal or exceed it.
A recent stack of books I made my way through
I have yet to learn to bake bread, but that is due to the fact you need large chunks of time to do that and I haven’t had the time to dedicate myself to that task, but this gives me something to work towards for the second half of the year, especially in the fall and winter months.
I did learn how to iron at the beginning of the year, but still need to keep practicing at it. I also want to learn how to sew and make minor adjustments to clothing. I think this will be a very good skill to master over the next year.
I have gotten a bit more involved with my community. I tried taking up yoga and have gone to a few yoga classes at the beginning of the year, but I did drop off the band wagon a bit. I’m hoping to get back into classes in the cooler months, but right now I am focused on spending time outdoors before and after work.I do still want to work to make new friends and put myself out there more.
Overall, I wanted to prioritize spending more time outdoors and with my dogs. It was challenging in the winter months, but I still tried to make it outside.Once it got nicer out, I made sure to get out as much as I could. I have continued to make time for my friends with weekly dates and I have been lucky to get so much family time. I’m still holding out for a family trip at the end of the summer.
My pup has loved the extra attention outside.
In the spring, I got the chance to visit several new states in New England and I hope to visit some new ones in the fall too! I also traveled down south for work and hit many states down there too!
My mindset for this year was to approach my days in a calmer manner and by and large, I think I have done a good job at that. I have tried to build in more margin in my schedule and not be as busy. I am always working on my flexibility and adaptability, but changing my mindset on a lot of things and taking my time has certainly helped in those areas.
We are only half way through 2025, there’s still so much time for things to happen. I’m excited for what the second half of the year will bring and I’m excited to see how far I will have come in 2025.
As we make our way through the new year, how are you doing with your goals and resolutions? Staying strong or needing some extra help? Life is a journey, take your time and enjoy the ride.
I hope this post encourages you to do your own check-in!
Have a wonderful rest of your week and I will see you here on the Fourth of July!
