Friday Favorites #153
Happy Friday and Happy Fourth of July! I hope you are getting ready to celebrate America and the holiday weekend. I know I have plans to see family, eat lots of good food, and enjoy the sunshine too!
We are making our way through July! I hope you had a summer-fun week and have something fun planned for your weekend. I have family visiting in town, a grad party, and lots of festivities. I’ll be sharing more next week!
Before we get to weekend fun, I wanted to share some favorite things of mine from this past week as I link up with Erika and Andrea.
Let’s dive right in
New Cook Book- I got a new cook book for my birthday and I couldn’t wait to dive right in and start researching recipes. Here’s the method I use when it comes to picking out new meals to try. I have found this system works great when I am looking for new things to cook and keeping things organized for future ideas. I already had the first book by Barbara Costello, Celebrate with Babs. This second cook book is called Every Day with Babs and it’s over 100 easy, every day recipes. I found so many great dishes that I can’t wait to enjoy!
Mini Notebooks-I mentioned using fun things every day to brighten up my day at work and home and using different notebooks at work certainly accomplishes that. I use medium and little notebooks every day and the pop of color or design always brings a smile to my face. A simple change that makes a big difference. Plus the quality is great too!
New Hairspray- I was looking to try a new hair spray and have been trying this hair spray from Dove. I really like the smell and that it doesn’t leave your hair too hard or crunchy and it really withstands all kinds of conditions. It doesn’t save your hair from all kinds of weather, but it keeps it in pretty good shape.
Easy recipes- I love to cook year round and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen. But there’s something about the summer that I crave about easiness. I am always looking for light, fresh, and easy meals to bring people around the table. I also love seafood in the summer. I really enjoyed this recipe I tried from Mix and Match Mama for easy crab cakes. They came together in no time and I bet you may already have the ingredients in your home. Here’s the recipe, it was a hit and a favorite!
Seasonal fruit- I have been on a seasonal fruit kick this summer. Give me all the peaches, plums, watermelon, and fruit salad. I’m a big fruit person to begin with but I enjoy eating fruit even more in the summer months. Plus, there is something sweet about picking your own fruit. In the past years, I have gone apple picking (in the fall), cherry picking, blueberry picking, and strawberry picking. Not only do I love eating it fresh, but I love baking with it too! I plan to go again this summer. What fruit will I be getting? You will have to wait and see.
A look at last year’s haul.
And this year’s crop!
That’s a look into life lately and what I’m loving this week. Lots of seasonal eats and items. I am in my cooking and baking era right now this summer especially with seasonal bites.
What seasonal items have you been loving? I would love to know! Have a fantastic Friday! See you back here on Wednesday!
