Let’s Look: Things We Have Changed Our Minds About
Hello! Hello! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a fabulous week! I am coming off a busy weekend with the Fourth of July, work, family, and a graduation party. It was a packed full, but fun weekend. I am ready for some normalcy, but I know these next few weeks will be busy, between work, and summer fun.
Here’s a few snapshots of my Fourth of July spread!
Lots of red, white, and blue!
So many sweets!
Fireworks to end the night!
Here’s the topics we have covered so far this year.
In January, we talked about Low Level Goals
In February, we chatted about How We Maintain Relationships
In March, the topic was about How We Reset for the Week
In April, we covered Maintaining Friendships
In May, we talked about Wellness
In June, we shared our travel bucket list.
This month, the topic is all about things we have changed our mind about. Now, this can be taken in two different ways. The light and fun way or the serious and moral side of things. I am taking the light and fun things that I have changed my mind about.
Food: I was always a good eater and tried new things as a child, but as I have gotten older, I am trying things that I may not have liked as a child or brand new things all together. My tastebuds have changed as I have gotten older too. For example, growing up, I didn’t like avocados. Now as an adult, I can’t get enough of them. I like them on toast, in salads and of course in guac.
An avocado sandwich is a favorite for me!
What I spend my time on: This has been a recent thing I have changed my mind about. Before, I would always stick to what I committed too. Now, I still do, but if it’s not bringing me joy or it adds stress or pressure to my life, I remove it. As I have gotten older, I have learned that there’s no point in continuing with a hobby if it’s not adding joy or amusement to your life. The same goes with people and friendships, if they are draining you, then it’s not worth keeping them in your life.
Cooking has been a passion and hobby that I have really grown to love and stick with.
Cold Weather- I am lucky enough to live in a place with all four seasons and I love that. I enjoy hobbies and activities during all the months. However, the older I have gotten, the more I have found that winter is my least favorite season. We have had some pretty bad winters and winter as an adult is a very different experience as a kid. As an adult, you still have to drive to work in the snow, be in the cold, handle sometimes dangerous situations, it’s not as fun as when you are a child and the winter means skiing and playing in the snow. I still enjoy winter, but it’s not my favorite season.
We had a really rough winter
Boundaries: This has also been a recent change in my life. The older I have gotten, the more I understand the importance of boundaries. It’s something that I am still working on, but establishing boundaries when it comes to work, family, friends, and my personal time is so important to me. I have discovered that my life is calmer and I’m a better person when I have boundaries in place.
Setting boundaries has led me to a happier and more peaceful life.
Social Situations and Noises- This is probably an effect with me getting older. But the older I have gotten, the less stimulation I want in my life. High energy and noise situations don’t bring me joy. I’m not a big concert person or live music fan, I prefer a quiet park or walk than listen to a band. In a world full of constant noise, notifications, and information, I really like my quiet time. Sometimes I prefer to drive in silence rather than listen to music, or a podcast, or talk on the phone. The older I have gotten, the more I cherish silence.
Being in the great outdoors is my kind of place
Some of these are fun things that I have changed my mind about and others are more serious. This was a fun topic for me to think about. What are some things you have changed your mind about as you have gotten older? I would love to hear! Have a great day and I’ll see you back here on Friday!
