A Day in the Life 2026 Edition
Hello everyone!
Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week as we make our way through March.
We had an unexpected warm day and I got in a nice long walk by the water recently
Then it was quickly followed by snow the next day…
Today is a little bit of a different post for you. I have been reading and following blogs for years- almost TEN years to be exact. One of my favorite posts to read are all about how people spend their days. I’m always curious about people’s routines and rhythms. Years ago, I shared a day in the life post when I was in college and then a few years ago I shared one for when I was working.
It’s been a long time since I shared a day in the life on a day off, so I figured it was time.
I chose a random day off to document my day and to be honest, it was pretty boring, but nonetheless, I shared anyways.
Here’s a peak into a day in life off of work!
I started my day early with my alarm clock going on at 5:30, even on days off, I don’t sleep in. Here’s a look at all the the different times I wake up depending on my schedule.
Then I start with my quiet time, which includes a Lenten devotional, journaling, meditation, a word search, and some reading. I always have a candle lit while I enjoy some quiet before the day begins.
My dog is an early bird like me, so he got me up and I fed and let him outside and did some stretching while I took care of him (I’m all about habit stacking and this is the perfect way to stretch and do some light movement when taking care of my pup.
I got ready for the first half of my day and was out the door to the gym around 6:00. On my way to the gym, I did my meditation through Insight Timer and listened to my Bible in a Year podcast. Then it was off to workout. I’m currently training for a marathon in September so my workouts have been a mix of lifting and running. I was in the middle of a rest week, so I only ran four miles this day and then walked for about a mile to cool down. During my walk is when I check my emails, respond to messages, check social media etc. I used to check my phone first thing in the morning and now I wait until about 6:30-7:00 (minus checking for texts and phone calls).
After the gym, it was back home to shower, get ready for the day, and do some tidying up. I was out the door by 9:30, I had a few doctor’s appointments and errands to run on this day off, a bit busier than a normal day off. Because I work weekends, my days off are on Thursday and Friday which I love. I can run errands and get appointments done when it’s quieter and there’s not as many people out and about. One of my errands included getting a car wash. We had a rough winter so far, so this was much needed.
I ate lunch between appointments which was salad and leftover chicken from the night before. Throughout my journeys, I finished an audiobook I was listening to, “The Perfect Hosts”, it was really good. I love listening to thrillers and mysteries on audiobook especially when I am running, working out, or in the car. Full review coming at the end of the month in my currently post.
After getting all the must-do errands done, it was time for some fun ones, which included popping into Target to see their new spring decor.
Once I was back home around 3:00, I took my dog out for a nice long walk and we got some fresh air, which was needed for the both of us.
The afternoon was spent doing household chores, changing bedsheets for the week, laundry, meal prepping for the week ahead etc. Nothing too exciting, mostly checking things off a to-do list. But if you love a to-do list like me, then you may love this time of the day. Hehe!
I try to make one new meal a week and typically on my days-off so I have time to enjoy the process. On this night, around 6:00, I made Baja Fish Tacos from Jessie James Decker’s cookbook, Just Eats. They were a hit. One of my goals is to get better at taking food and plate pictures, haha!
After dinner, I ended the night by catching up on some of my shows. I am currently watching The Pitt and Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday nights. I have watched Grey’s for years and have been loving season two of The Pitt.
After some unwinding, I did some reading and then it was lights out around 11:00. Most nights, I am in bed around 10:00, but sometimes, it varies.
There you have it, a typical day in the life for me. Not too exciting, I’m afraid. Working out, running errands, household to-do’s, cooking, relaxing, and family time. I try to schedule friend meet-ups or coffee dates on my days off, it all just depends on the schedule and what I have going on.
That’s a look into my life lately. Would you like to see more of these posts? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Wednesday and thanks for following along.
