Currently #66
Hello Hello! Happy Wednesday. Summer is going by so fast. It started out very busy with events and activities left and right, but things have calmed down a bit and I’m in the summer groove.
The past few weeks have included walks, outdoor eating, grilling on the beach, and time with friends. I can’t believe it’s the end of June, which means it’s time for another Currently post. Today, I’m recapping the past few weeks and what I have been up to. Let’s dive right in!
What I've Been Up to:
We kicked off the month celebrating my youngest brother’s high school graduation. From there, I hit the ground running with summer fun!
June began with grilling and a beach sunset.
It continued with some summer walks at new parks and beaches.
I went to one of my favorite summer spots for a classic burger.
I celebrated National Donut Day with a free donut from Krispy Kreme.
My pup has been loving the nicer weather and has been playing outdoors whenever he can.
I got out for my first baseball game of the season too!
I’ve gotten to enjoy dinner by the water.
Summer has also brought new places to hike!
We also have been enjoying open fires through the summer.
A day trip to the zoo got checked off my summer bucket list.
And to see the fish too at the aquarium!
Ending the adventure with a picnic by the water!
A beautiful night for baseball!
What I'm Wearing:
I’ve been doing my best to wear all my summer clothes. I got these pair of pink/coral shoes from DSW and have found so many outfits to pair them with, from dresses to pants.
They match this dress perfectly
Pairing it with white pants
A look with a blue top
I’ve been wearing bolder colors too and pairing them with fun shoes like these black and white ones!
I got this brown dress from Old Navy and it’s quickly becoming a summer favorite!
What I'm Reading:
This was such a good reading month, although I found myself with too many books and not enough time to read them all. Here’s what I read:
All that Life Can Afford- All That Like Can Afford by Emily Everett is all about a woman who works as a tutor in England. She works for a family and sees how the other side lives. She finds herself as a part of their world, but has to make the decision to come clean about who she really is or keep playing an act. I thought the book was good, but not great.
The Women- The Women by Kristin Hannah is all about the Vietnam War, the nurses who worked in the trenches, and life after the war. The book was informative, heartbreaking, hopeful, and inspiring, all in one story. I found myself looking for different times to sneak in a few minutes of listening whenever I could. I loved this book and would highly recommend it! 5 Stars!
The Crash- Freida McFadden’s The Crash is all about a young, pregnant woman who gets taken in by a couple after she crashes. But she quickly learns everything is not what it seems and finds herself in a life or death situation. Will she and her unborn baby escape? You will have to read to find out. This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I know I will be picking up more of her books.
Choosing the Simply Luxurious Life- Shannon Ables’ book Choosing the Simply Luxurious Life is a book that I really savored. I have been listening to her blog for almost a year. It’s also about approaching life in a slower and calmer manner and really taking the time to savor life’s moments. I find her podcast inspiring and interesting. She has a few books out as well that I have been taking the time to read including “Choosing the Simply Luxurious Life”. I love the practical ways she highlights how to live a life of contentment and peace. Such a great read!
What I'm Watching:
I haven’t been watching too much tv since I have been enjoying time outside. But I have been watching Gilmore Girls as I get ready in the morning or to unwind at night. It’s my first time watching it through and it has been such a good comfort show.
What I'm Cooking:
I have been making lots of summer salads and snacks.
Corn Salad- This was a quick, easy corn salad with a homemade dressing that we enjoyed with grilled chicken sandwiches. It was very filling and healthy too. I got the recipe from the cookbook, Celebrate with Babs.
Buffalo Chicken Dip- I love a good appetizer night and we enjoyed one at the start of the month. I made some Buffalo Chicken Dip and it was my first attempt at making it, it was a hit!
A peach salad with grilled chicken is always a good option for summer. I got this recipe from Jessie James Decker’s cook book.
A Fajita night is always a win!
My first attempt at homemade truffles- super easy and so rich with flavor!
Baked apples for the win! Yum!
Four ingredient crab cakes were a perfect summer meal!
What Inspires Me:
I have been inspired by all the summer flowers and fun!
A beautiful morning to get outdoors.
I’ve been inspired by hiking and traveling to new places too!
I saw this hat at my local book store and I couldn’t help but chuckle…anyone else get the literary reference?!
A recent inspirational quote from work.
