Living a Minimalist Life

Hello everyone!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week and fantastic July! I indulged in a sweet treat for National Ice Cream Day this week!

Today’s blog is kind of a piggy back on last week’s blog. Last week, I talked all about elevating my daily style in small, but subtle ways. Today’s post is all about living a minimalist lifestyle. I have really been making an effort to use what I have, spend less, and live a simpler lifestyle.

Over the past year, I have been making an effort to live a minimalist lifestyle. How do I do this you may ask?

First, before I go out and buy something, I check my backstock and shop my shelves first. This can be in the form of clothes, outfits, or articles of clothing. If I am really looking for something in style or in season, then I will go to the store, but oftentimes, I can find what I am looking for or something similar in my closet. I find it amazing how much stuff I already have without having to buy new.

I also do the same when it comes to beauty products,I often have travel items or sample items that I will use when I am traveling and will use up items rather than buying new travel items from the store. Plus, it also lets me try new things before I invest in them. There’s nothing more satisfying that using up a product and having something ready to go without having to purchase it.

Another way I try to live a minimalist lifestyle is by keeping my spaces clean and clear by not buying things I don’t need. This can be hard since I love shopping, but I have found that I like having more empty space and less clutter since it makes me feel better, therefore, it forces me to buy less. Yes, the coffee cup may be cute in the store, but I already have half a dozen at home that have meaning to me too.

The same goes for decorations, as much as I love some fresh seasonal decor, I try to reuse what I have year after year instead of buying new. This helps keep my expenses in check and it also gives me memories of decorations from years past. Fresh flowers are an easy way to elevate your decor at an affordable price.

Another reason I have been trying to lead a minimalist lifestyle is because I know it’s going to have to become my lifestyle soon. In the next few years, I will be moving and downsizing so I have been preparing now and getting in the minimalist lifestyle and mindset now.

I don’t need three pairs of sandals when I grab the same ones each time. The same goes for jackets, I have my trusty jackets that work time and time again, and I don’t need another one for more options. Why re-invent the wheel when you know what works?

Over the past several years, I have refined my  fashion style and lifestyle decisions. I know what I like and what I need to live a fulfilling life and I have discovered that I like the essentials and simple things and get overwhelmed by excess. I know it’s not for everyone, but I found what works best for me.

What are some ways you create a lifestyle for you and how would you describe your lifestyle? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Wednesday! I’ll see you back here on Friday!
