Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week. Yesterday was Election Day which meant a busy work day for me, but I got out to vote and brought my pup along for the ride.
I hope you are having a great start to November. 2026 has flown by but also been very well paced. As we near the end of the year, the decisions we need to make continue to grow. Between the holidays, commitments, family plans, and to-do’s, it may seem endless, that’s why having some easy decide once’s in life are so crucial.
I have been a fan of Kendra Adachi and her podcast, The Lazy Genius for YEARS. She teaches practical ways to make life simpler. She also has written several books about her practices. One of her pillars are “Decide Once”. Essentially, it’s making a decision about something and sticking with it. It can be as big or as small as you want. Examples include a weekly dinner queue, “Pasta Monday, Taco Tuesday, Slow Cooker Wednesday etc.” You are making a decision and then that frees up your mind for more important decisions. Other Decide Once examples include how much you want to spend on a gift, a go-to coffee order, when you do your laundry etc. All small decisions to streamline your life.
I have adapted this practice in many areas in my life, such as when I work out, how I want more mornings and evenings to look, what’s my go-to snacks or lunches, etc.
I realized how much these practices set me up for success. Today, I wanted to share some purchases and lifestyle changes that help my life run smoother.
Here’s my recent Top 5 Decide Once
Tank Top Workout Shirts- As someone who is an avid workout enthusiast, I have found my favorite clothes to workout in. I used to not care as much what I wear to workout, as long as it was athletic wear, it was good for me. Now, I care deeply about what I wear, it’s not so much about the brand as it is about the feel. My go-to workout clothes include a tank top shirt, leggings with pockets or shorts with zipper pockets. I get my clothes from Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Sierra, or Amazon. But instead of wearing whatever or wearing clothes that don’t fit right, I made the decision of what style I like.
What and When I Listen to Things- I prefer to listen to podcasts or audiobooks than music. Don’t get me wrong, I still have my playlists, but there’s certain podcasts and audiobooks that I listen to when I do certain things and at certain times of the day. For example, I start my day using the Insight Timer for meditation and then I listen to my Bible in the Year podcast. When I lift at the gym, I listen to certain podcasts, and when I run, I listen to different ones. I’m not wasting time deciding what to listen to, I already have the decision made.
Getting Gas- Unless I am empty with my gas tank, I get my gas from Getgo. I get points for shopping and getting gas at Giant Eagle and Getgo and it allows me to save money on fuel and food. There are many Getgo locations near me, so this is an easy decide once.
Washing Items- I have it down to a system of when I wash things. I do my bedroom sheets every other week, I wash my gym clothes after a few uses, clean out my dishes every day after work, deep clean my water bottles for home and gym once a week. Same goes for sweats or shorts that I wear after work. A few tasks that make my life easier and I don’t have to question when was the last time I washed something.
Beauty Products- I like to change up my beauty and makeup products occasionally, but one that that remains the same is my love for Bath and Body runs deep. I always get my body lotion and spray from Bath and Body Works. I tend to get them as gifts for my birthday and Christmas and they last me from one celebration to the next. I like the scent, the quality, and to change up my scents. Another mindless decision that I made once that I don’t have to change.
There are so many decisions that I have made once and I don’t have to repeat. I love the spontaneity of life, but have routines and rhythms makes the day to day SO much easier.
