Turning the Page to 27
Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great and maybe even a shorter week with Memorial Day. Here’s a look at how I spent the day.
I started the day with a run.
I can’t believe we are already looking towards June, this month went by in the blink of an eye. Although my favorite month is coming to a close, I am looking forward to summer and all the fun that comes with a new season. I will be sharing my Summer Bucket List in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
Typically, I would have a “Currently” for today’s post since we are at the end of the month, but instead, I have a birthday post since I will be turning 27 tomorrow!
Kendra Adachi of The Lazy Genius has a podcast episode about the importance of celebrating your birthday and planning a day for you that you want to enjoy, that way your expectations aren’t let down. So, that’s what I did this year, I planned a day of things I want to do and that will bring me joy. I’ll be sharing more on Friday, but needless to say, I’m looking forward to my birthday tomorrow!
As I mentioned last week, when I started this blog eight years ago, I have grown and matured a lot since then. I have gotten older and hopefully wiser.
With each passing year, I like to take some time to reflect on how far I have come and what I plan to do for the next year. I set my goals/resolutions at the start of the new year, but I use my birthday as a time of reflection.
26 was a pretty big year for me. I went through some major changes, which led to more independence, finding new hobbies, keeping myself busy, establishing new routines, and even finding myself more.
Overall, it was a really good year. I found myself traveling more both with family and by myself. Although an adjustment, a great growth experience to navigate new places by myself.
I also got to reconnect with old friends and keep my social calendar full with more regular meet-ups with current friends.
I got the chance to continue to build on old hobbies, like running and work towards new goals, like by training for my first half marathon this summer.
I also started some new hobbies, like giving yoga a try, which has been a great form of movement and has helped me mentally too.
I’ve also picked up new skills like by trying different recipes in the kitchen both for cooking and baking.
I’ve gotten lots of family time in, with both my immediate and extended family and I don’t take that for granted, especially the older I get. It can be harder to spend time with loved ones when you are constantly juggling schedules.
This past year, I have held onto things that brought me immense joy, like time outside, savoring quiet moments in the morning, getting lost in books and putting my thoughts on paper.
Looking back on year 26, I’ve never felt more like myself. I feel fulfilled mentally, spiritually, and physically. I have loving and supportive friends and family. A job that fulfills me, hobbies that bring me joy and a passion to enjoy the little things in life.
I can’t wait to see what 27 brings, I’m looking forward to embracing what lies ahead and I hope you will come along with me on the journey.
Cheers to 27!
