Love the Season You Are In

Hi everyone! Happy Happy Wednesday! I don’t know about you, but I unofficially said goodbye to summer this weekend. Two of my brothers came home unexpectedly for the weekend and I got to catch up with some friends. I enjoyed one last summer ice cream run, some grilling, and time outdoors. It was the best way to cap off an incredible summer.

One last ice cream to say goodbye to summer

One last grilling session this summer.

Yes, the weather could still be warm, the sun will still shine,  and I will be holding onto that for as long as possible. I don’t like the fall since everyone goes back to school, but once I am in the season, I enjoy the leaves, fall scents, the coziness, and festivities that surround it. What comes after fall is a different story…hehehe!

Speaking of the changing seasons, I am coming off a fulfilling, but busy season of life. My fiance dubbed this summer, having the Ultimate Erie summer and we most certainly accomplished that. Since May, I have been going non-stop between work, changing schedules, family time, people moving, trips, time with friends, and doing as much as possible. My days often started before the sun and ended wayyyy past my typical bedtime, but I loved and cherished every moment of it.

D.C., one of my many summer adventures!

As we say goodbye to summer, I wanted to reflect on the season and the importance of living in the season you are in, whether it be fast and furious, or slow and serene. I think it’s important that we acknowledge and appreciate the seasons of life and make sure we understand that we may not live in that season again.

I pushed myself a lot this summer to get as much in as I wanted to. I let go of a routine some days in exchange for more adventures and activities and I loved the change of pace. Not only was it fun to be spontaneous and do things I typically wouldn’t do, but it showed me, the world keeps turning if I break out of my rhythms. Don’t get me wrong, I still crave routine and consistency, but it was nice to not follow a schedule for a few days. I liked the freedom it gave me and I know it made me more flexible.

Savoring some of the slower days of summer

Although there were days when I was hoping for a few hours to catch my breath and not rush from one place to another, I knew I would miss the moments of chaos and was glad to experience them. I loved the season I experienced this past summer and was so sad to see it go.

A great reminder as we transition from one season to another.

On the flipside, I knew I had to have the right attitude going into a slower season of fall and eventually winter. I had been counting down the days to this summer for so many reasons and it left as quickly as it came. I knew that I had to put things on my calendar or make plans to look forward to things in the fall since I realized it would be different compared to the summer.

Fruit picking was another summer favorite!

Rather than be let down or upset by the new season because it would be different, I decided to embrace it. I told myself to look forward to the slower days of fall. Instead of constantly going from one activity to the next, I could spend more time at home reading or baking, things I didn’t get a chance to do in the summer. I could tackle different projects that I had been putting off over the past few months.

Taking time to read rather than rush from one place to another.

Like every season, I made myself a fall bucket list of things I wanted to do over the next few moments, these gave me things to look forward to or plan. Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing that soon!

Instead of being sad that a fun season of my life is done, I decided to look on the positive side and embrace a different season of life.

Whether you are coming off a busy season or gearing up for one, I hope this serves as a good reminder to love the season you are in and remember, it’s just a season, it won’t last forever.

Here’s to a new season and a new month!
