2026 New Year’s Resolution Check-In
Hello everyone!
Happy July! June flew by and it was a busy month for me. Between starting summer, seeing friends, a trip to NYC, and celebrating some big family milestones. It was a BUSY month.
I have been finding pockets of time to slow down and soak up summer!
The next few weeks and months aren’t slowing down anytime soon. I am so lucky to have so many wonderful things going on in my life, but it can be a lot.
Taking my pup to walk in new places has brought me so much joy and peace!
We are half way through 2026, is it just me or is the year going by too fast. I am a very reflective person, so I love the idea of looking back and being reflective on important things in life and seeing what ways I have grown and what ways I can evolve. Since we are halfway through 2026, I figured it was a good time for a New Year’s Resolution Check-In. It’s a good reminder to see how I am doing with my goals for this year and what areas I need to tend to more.
As a refresher, here’s a look at my post from the start of the year where I laid out my goals and resolutions for 2026.
My New Year’s Resolutions for 2026 are:
Get Married
Decide the Next Steps in my Career
Read 100 Books
Run a Marathon
Read the Bible
Find a Signature Scent
Make A Wedding Scrapbook
Continue to Grow My Blog
Learn More About Home Decorating
Be Better at Decision Making
I have done pretty well at some of them and I’m continuing to work on others.
Get Married- I haven’t accomplished this yet, but it’s coming soon!! I have been hard at planning my wedding with my fiance. It’s been fun and interesting to plan a big event. I have found there’s a lot of hurrying and waiting. We will make some plans and progress on certain items and then it’s a waiting game. This process has taught me the importance of patience. It’s been a great learning experience and I can’t wait to see the final outcome.
Decide the Next Steps in my Career- I haven’t been able to make much progress on this yet, but that will come after we get married.
Read 100 Books- I am on my way to hitting this goal. So far, I have read 43 books, so given that we are halfway through 2026, I think I am on par to read 100 by the end of the year. This has been a mix of audio and physical books. I have really enjoyed reading different authors and genres and getting recommendations from others while scouring my local library for new books. You can see what books I’m reading by heading to my Instagram stories that I have saved with 2026 Books.
Run a Marathon- Another goal I haven’t accomplished yet, but I have been training HARD for it. It has taken discipline, lots of planning, and pushing myself out of my comfort zone, but it has been so rewarding. Through this training process, I have learned that training for a marathon is much more than a physical feat, it’s a mental challenge that takes patience, discipline, and strength. I really have learned a lot through this process so far and I’m eager to see how I continue to evolve through this process.
Read the Bible- Another goal I am working towards and haven’t accomplished yet, but I have been very good about reading the Bible every day. I have been using The Bible in Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz. Every day he selects a few books of the Bible to read and he offers a reflection. I start my day by listening to it and it’s been a peaceful and educational way to start the day. I have grown deeper in my faith and closer to God and I have learned a lot about the Bible too.
Find a Signature Scent- I found a scent that I love, but I haven’t purchased it yet. I have tested out various scents at the stores and found one I really loved. I haven’t made the purchase yet, but that’s only because I am using up what I have first. But once, I use up my current stuff, I already have something lined up that I love.
Make A Wedding Scrapbook- This is another goal, I can’t accomplish quite yet. I have started to collect things to include, but I won’t be able to do this until after our wedding, but it gives me something to look forward to in the second half of the year.
Continue to Grow My Blog- Yes! This is something I have been actively working on. I have started to now blog three days a week with the addition of my Catching Up Over Coffee posts which I post weekly. I love catching you up on my weekend happenings whether they are big or little things. I also have been posting more on instagram, so be sure to follow me too!
Learn More About Home Decorating- Yes! I have been doing a lot of reading and researching and pinning ideas for what I want my future home to look like. I have been reading House Rules which has been so helpful when it comes to home decor and design.
Be Better at Decision Making- Yes! This is something I have been actively working on, I am not the best at making decisions and will sometimes ruminate on them or ask for second opinions. I have been working on being better at making decisions and not second guessing.
While I have made progress in some areas, I have more work ahead of me. Luckily, these are all good things and I am excited for the second half of the year to accomplish them. My word of the year was evolve and I truly believe that through these areas and others, I have evolved and will continue to do so. As we make our way through 2026, how are your New Year’s Resolutions coming along? Are you making progress or have you let some of them slip to the wayside? I also think it’s a good time to check in to see how we are doing and what areas we want to improve in.
This weekend is the Fourth of July and America’s 250th birthday! I will check in with you on Friday before the holiday weekend. Until then, have a great week!
