Let’s Look: Juggling Family Schedules

Hello! Hello!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a fabulous week. We are in the middle of August which means you are either getting ready for back to school or enjoying the dog days of summer. I’m in the middle of them both. While I won’t be heading back to school, a lot of people in my life are. Even though I have a few more weeks to enjoy the summer season, the return of reality is settling in. I’m just getting back from a family weekend getaway. It was so nice to recharge and spend some time together as a family.

A weekend well-spent in one of our favorite places

One of the things that comes with back to school season is schedules and routines (something I love!)

Today I’m linking up with Erika and Shay for another Let’s Look as we talk about juggling family schedules.

Here’s a quick recap of the things we have covered so far this year.

In January, we talked about Low Level Goals

In February, we chatted about How We Maintain Relationships

In March, the topic was about How We Reset for the Week

In April, we covered Maintaining Friendships

In May, we talked about Wellness

In June, we shared our travel bucket list.

In July we talked about Things We Have Changed Our Mind’s About

I’m not married, but I do have other schedules to take into account when I’m planning things.

I’ve done posts in the past about how I stay organized. My key tools that I use every day are my phone calendar, Simplified planner, and Lazy Genius playbook. I do a breakdown on how I use them all here.

Here’s a look into how I balance and keep track of my schedule and keep track of other people’s schedules.

Phone and Shared Calendar- It goes on the phone calendar first. Every doctor’s appointment, reminder, upcoming event is color coded and goes into my calendar on my phone. I have it organized by work events, personal events, recurring events, and  important reminders. Last year, my fiance and I created a shared calendar where we could put in items that both of us needed to be aware of and see (for example-a change in shift, doctor’s appointment, travel plans etc.) This way we both are aware if there is an upcoming change to be up to speed on.

Family calendar- I still live at home and there’s a big calendar where all family events and appointments go. It’s not as filled as it used to be, but it’s still helpful when it comes to seeing upcoming doctor’s, cars, hair appointments, upcoming trips, people visiting etc. I will check it periodically to see if there’s anything I need to be aware of.

Paper Planner- Once a week (typically on Saturday or Sunday) I will transfer everything from my phone calendar and check the family calendar and put it in my Simplified planner that goes everywhere with me. I check it first thing in the morning,  have it open at my desk, and check it at night. Every reminder, task, and event is logged in my planner.

My life is pretty calm and routine compared to others and I mostly keep track of my own schedule, but it’s helpful to have a system that works for me that helps me stay organized when it comes to my schedule and other people’s plans.

I love to organize and I am always looking for ways to add different life hacks to my routines.

Tell me, what things do you do to keep yourself organized? I would love to know!

Happy Wednesday friends!
