Let’s Look: Making Couple Friends
Hello everyone!
Happy Wednesday!
I hope you have had a great start to your week and are ready for the second half of it. I'm looking forward to the next few days with a visit from my fiancé and spending time together.
Early morning sunshine sets my day up for success.
We are in the full swing of May, all the spring happenings, and I am here for it. I love this time of year, and I am doing my best to get outside as much as I can, whether it's for walks, runs, reading, or meals. I truly miss the sunshine in the winter months, and the spring and summer days fill my tank immensely.
My pup and I have been enjoying lots of outdoor walks
As we make our way through May, we have reached the middle of the month which means it's time for another Let's Look as I link up with
Linking up with other bloggers is one of my favorite ways to get new ideas, find new blogs, and see what's on everyone's minds.
Here's some of the past topics we have covered so far this year.
In January we chatted about Things We Outsource Without Regret
In February, we talked aboutWays We Are Turning Into Our Parents.
In March, we shared aboutFavorite Family Vacations
In April, we talked about The Hardest Things We Have Done
Today's topic is a fun one and one that I'm hoping to get ideas from as I read what other people share.
Today, we are all talking about making couple friends!
I'm engaged now but will be married and moving in the future. One of the things my fiancé and I have talked a lot about is building a community, getting involved, and making new friends, especially in a new city one day. This is something that is really important to us, so I'm hoping by reading how other people have made couple friends. This will give me some ideas too.
My fiancé and I both have our separate friends that we have made through our lives whether it was growing up, in college or in our own jobs, and we have met each other's friends through the years. But we aren't all best friends with each other due to living far apart from one another and because of different dynamics.
However, there are a few friends we have made through work. My fiancé and I met at work and hung out with similar friends and in similar friend groups and formed strong friendships with several people at work, some of our age and others older and younger than us, but with similar interests, ideals, and backgrounds. After getting to know different friends through work, we were able to hang out with friends outside of work with their spouses. We like to keep things pretty lowkey whether it's meeting up for coffee, ice cream in the summer, or dinner. For us, the most important things to us are visiting and good conversations. This has proven to be true even more so now that my fiancé and I are going long distance, it's even more important that we make time for our friends when we are both in town. When my fiancé and I were both working at the same place, it would be fun to catch up with our friends outside of work with their spouses. We also have mutual friends who met kind of met through us after making a connection and have since started dating and got married.
It's been fun to see friends going through milestones through life whether it be meeting, getting engaged, getting married, moving, or starting a family.
It's so fun and an honor to see your friends through those moments in life.
I unfortunately don't have too much advice about making couple friends except to find people with similar interests and people who make you laugh and bring out the best in you. One of my favorite things to do with our mutual friends is to laugh and be myself around them. Good friends can be hard to come by, especially when you get older, your lives change, and sometimes people move. So I try to do my best to savor the time with my friends at every opportunity we get.
That's a look into the importance of making couple friends and how I try to make them and how I want to make more of them in the future. Alright, the gates are open for you to share how you make couple friends and what advice you have! Share them with me below!
Have a great rest of your week and I'll see you back here on Friday for another roundup of favorites!
