Let’s Look: Our Summer Selves and How It’s Different

Hello everyone!

Happy Wednesday to you!

I hope you are having a great week as we make our way through July! After a fun filled weekend, it’s back into a routine this week. Not too much to report, we have been enjoying dinners outside, walks after work, and even some ice cream runs. Yum! We have been going to a different place for ice cream every Sunday and it’s become one of my favorite new summer traditions. It’s the second Wednesday of the month which means it’s time for another Let’s Look as I link up with Erika and Shay

So far, we have covered a variety of topics. Here’s a breakdown in case you missed any!

In January we chatted about Things We Outsource Without Regret

In February, we talked aboutWays We Are Turning Into Our Parents.

In March, we shared about Favorite Family Vacations

In April, we talked all about The Hardest Things We Have Done.

In May, the topic was all about Making Couple Friends

In June we talked about Things We Are Making More Time For

Today, the topic is our summer selves and how it’s different from how we are compared to the rest of the year. What a fun topic to dive into!

I personally think I am the best version of myself in the summertime.

I am more relaxed, I can do more things that bring me joy, and I love the warmth and sunshine.

I am fortunate to live in a place with all four seasons and I appreciate them all in their own way, but I would much rather spend a day at the beach than a day on the ski slopes.

I love all the activities that come with summer!

Some of my favorite qualities that are brought out in the summertime compared to the other seasons include my approach to my days. As much as I love a routine and schedule, I like to keep more margin for spontaneity. If a friend asks to go for a walk on a day off, I’m down. If I want to get ice cream after work, I can! I like the surprises that summer can bring.

Post work walks with my dog is another favorite!

Another aspect of my summer self I love is what I eat and how I move my body. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good soup in the winter, or a big pasta dinner in the fall. But give me all the picnic food, salads, appetizers, fun drinks, and ice cream all summer long. There’s nothing quite like pool time, a cold lemonade, and grilling afterwards. A summer favorite of mine!

A happy looking plate!

I also prefer to move outside more than inside. I love to run, but I hate to run on a treadmill. I can do it, but I would prefer to run outdoors. I enjoy running through different neighborhoods, by the water, or in different parks. There is something so freeing about running in nature.

Another thing I love about my summer self is the amount of things to do outside. I often find myself being cooped but indoors in the wintertime due to the cold.

But in the summer, I love to spend as much time outdoors, whether it be reading, walking, eating dinner, I can’t get enough of the sunshine.

One happy summer gal!

A final thing I love about my summer self is my mood. I am lighter and happier in the summer and in the sunshine. I have more energy to do different things. I push myself to do more or see more and I really try to capitalize on my surroundings. I truly believe I am the best version of myself in the summer and I think other people around me would agree too!

How do you think you are different in the summer compared to the other months of the year? When are you, the best version of yourself? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Wednesday friends! I will see you back here on Friday!
