Let’s Look: The Best and Worst Gifts We Have Gotten

Hello! Hello! Happy Wednesday! I hope you had a great start to this holiday and Christmas season. I adore this time of year, between the traditions, the festivities, and the friend and family time.

A look at some of the gifts that have already been wrapped and under my mini tree until the big one goes up.

I had a very festive weekend, with baking, a Christmas show, and some holiday specials. Here’s how I spent it.

I kicked off the weekend by watching a classic-Rudolph!

Attempted to make Twix cookies…they were tasty, but the presentation needs some work. I also made chocolate covered pretzels. Yum!

And I wrapped up the weekend by participating in a holiday show.

We are on the final, Let’s Look of the year. We covered a variety of topics this year. Let’s recap!

In January, we talked about Low Level Goals

In February, we chatted about How We Maintain Relationships

In March, the topic was about How We Reset for the Week

In April, we covered Maintaining Friendships

In May, we talked about Wellness

In June, we shared our travel bucket list.

In July we talked about Things We Have Changed Our Mind’s About

In August, we discussed Juggling Family Schedules

In September, we shared Managing Teens

In October, we talked about Things We Have Said No to Recently

In November, the topic was How We Show Gratitude

Today we are continuing with the holiday theme and sharing the best and worst gifts we have gotten.

Let’s chat about this topic as I link up with Erika and Shay.

This was a hard topic for me to work on. I could think about a dozen great gifts, but the worst gifts were harder to come by, mostly because I am such a positive person and I don’t like to be negative. That being said, I am going to change this prompt ever so slightly and focus on the best gifts and then some unique gifts I have gotten through the years.
Dollhouse- One of my favorite Christmas gifts was when I was four or five and my day built me a dollhouse. I still have it to this day and although it has seen better days due to lots of playtime. I love my dollhouse. It was made of wood and I learned later in life that he spent time working on it every night after work. Such a beautiful and meaningful gift.

Cinderella and Prince Charming Barbie Dolls- A few years later, I got my first Barbie dolls and they were Cinderella and Prince Charming, my favorite princess growing up. I loved those dolls and still have them to this day. I remember opening them up and playing with them all day long.

Getting into my top high school- Another memorable Christmas gift was when I opened my acceptance letters for high school. I had to apply to go to our local high schools and waited until Christmas morning to open my acceptance letters. Although I had a pretty good feeling about getting in, it was a memorable morning to open up my letters and decide where I wanted to go.

Work Scrapbook- A recent favorite gift came a few years ago. I started my first and current job right before Christmas and my fiance surprised me with a scrapbook highlighting my first year at my job. I got it around Christmas so I count it as a Work-anniversary and Christmas gift too. Another, beautiful, thoughtful and handmade gift.

Some of the more unique gifts I have gotten through the years have come from family, friends, and Secret Santa exchanges.
I have received lots and lots of coffee mugs, fuzzy socks, throw blankets, and chocolate to open my own store.Thoughtful gifts, but some that I have received one too many times, but you can never have too many socks, chocolates, or mugs and they will always get put to good use.

One year, my brother re-gifted gifts to people in our family, so I received a water bottle, while my other brother got an old computer monitor, both were unique gifts, but it was certainly the thought that counted.

I have gotten wine as gifts as an adult, which are lovely gifts, but I am not a big drinker, so I may not enjoy them as much as others would enjoy them. But they are still very thoughtful.

This is just a handful of some of the different gifts I have gotten through the years that come to mind. Although not my favorites, I am still appreciative for the time and thoughtfulness that went into them.

I have been so blessed to have received so many thoughtful gifts from family, friends, loved ones and even Santa through the years. While I love getting gifts, I love giving them even more and next week I plan to share my gift giving strategy with you all, so stay tuned!

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week and I will see you back here on Friday for a festive, Friday Favorites!
