Let’s Look: How We Show Gratitude
Hello all! Happy Wednesday!
I hope you had a wonderful, fulfilling, or restful weekend and you were able to fill your cup. Here’s how I spent the weekend. It was a pretty wet and rainy weekend, so it was all about the cozy vibes. I finished one book and started a new one.
A successful morning in the kitchen!
I did some baking and spent some time with family, plus got to catch up with one of my friends over facetime. My cup was full! The one downside was the switch from fall to winter.
This was Sunday
This was Monday…winter is here
It’s the second week of November which means it’s time for another Let’s Look as I link up with Erika and Shay.
I can’t believe we only have one more Let’s Look for the year.
2025 has flown by and it seems like 2026 will be here before we know it.
Before we get to today’s prompt, here’s a recap of all the topics we have covered so far this year.
Here’s the topics we have covered so far this year
In January, we talked about Low Level Goals
In February, we chatted about How We Maintain Relationships
In March, the topic was about How We Reset for the Week
In April, we covered Maintaining Friendships
In May, we talked about Wellness
In June, we shared our travel bucket list.
In July we talked about Things We Have Changed Our Mind’s About
In August, we discussed Juggling Family Schedules
In September, we shared Managing Teens
In October, we talked about Things We Have Said No to Recently
I absolutely love these prompts, because it makes me think about my responses to them and I love to see other people’s opinions on them too, what a great community building activity to share in.
November marks the start of the season of giving which fits perfectly with today’s prompt about ways we show our gratitude.
I show gratitude in a variety of ways, but the biggest ways are through words, actions, and items.
Words- Like so many others, I learned my manners at an early age and it’s something that is second nature for me. Whenever I want to show my appreciation for someone or something whether it be big or small, I always say thank you, and I try to be as detailed as possible with my thanks. Did I need a favor? Did someone help me out? Did someone do a nice gesture for me? I always tell that person thank you and why I’m thanking them. When I receive a gift, or card, or even a text, one of the first things I do is send them my appreciation. I typically send a thank you text right away and then will follow it up with a hand written thank you card. I think it’s more personalized and sentimental. Plus, I love getting a letter in the mail and think it’s a special custom or tradition that should be used more. On a personal note (no pun intended) I love stationary, so whenever I get the chance to use it, I take advantage.
Actions- I also show my gratitude through actions and I’m not just talking about sending a thank you card, but reciprocating the favor. If someone did something nice for me, I like to try to return the favor. They say “actions speak louder than words” and I fully believe that. Yes, it is nice to say thank you, but to do something nice can be more meaningful and go further. I like to do things for others to brighten their days, lift their spirits, or just thank them for being them. I believe that positivity breeds positive, so I try to spread as much kindness and positivity as I can. I will often find myself by sending texts to friends or family letting them know I am thinking of them and grateful to have them in my life. I also try to help out with tasks where I can, if I see something that needs to be done, I will do it without being asked and as a way to help someone else out.
Items- Lastly, I am a big gift giver. I love the concept of giving gifts. I love thinking of creative things to give people, I love the hunting and purchasing, I love the wrapping (even if I’m not the prettiest wrapper), and I love seeing how people react to the gift.I love to show people I care by giving them a little something extra to let them know I am thinking of them. If I am at the store and see someone’s favorite candy, I will pick it up and put it at the work station. If I know someone is having a tough day, I will mail them a care package with all their favorite things. If I am out getting a drink or snack with a friend, I will pay for their food item, or if I am out on my own and I see something, I will pick it up as a surprise. I think these little things could bring a smile to someone’s face and make their days.
In the season of giving, there are so many ways to show people you care and express gratitude. These are just my favorite ways to show my appreciation.
