Let’s Look: Things We Have Said “No” to Recently

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week.

How was your weekend? We had a beautiful weekend over here with temperatures in the 80’s and lots of sunshine. I got to spend lots of time outdoors and I went to a sweet bridal shower.

The cutest set-up for a shower!

I like so many others listened to Taylor Swift’s new album on repeat too! All around it was a great weekend!

I’m looking forward to a fall-filled weekend in the coming days. It’s fall break, so we will have a full house of lots of family and company and I can’t wait.

A beautiful sunrise on a fall morning!

It’s also the second Wednesday of the month, which means it’s time for another Let’s Look as I link up with Erika and Shay.

Here’s the topics we have covered so far this year

In January, we talked about Low Level Goals

In February, we chatted about How We Maintain Relationships

In March, the topic was about How We Reset for the Week

In April, we covered Maintaining Friendships

In May, we talked about Wellness

In June, we shared our travel bucket list.

In July we talked about Things We Have Changed Our Mind’s About

In August, we discussed Juggling Family Schedules

In September, we shared Managing Teens

Can you believe there are only a few months left of things to chat about?! I always like sharing my thoughts on different topics and hearing yours as well.

Today, we are talking all about things we have said “no” to recently.

I don’t have a list that’s too extensive, but I do have a handful of things I have cut out of my life or said no to that I have felt good about.

  • Late nights- Unless it’s an event or something that I have to be up for, I have been saying “no” to late nights and “yes” to earlier bedtimes. My sleep schedule took a hit this summer, I had late nights and early mornings, I was on the go and although I was doing lots of fun things, my body was worn out. This fall, I have really prioritized better and more consistent sleep and it has been doing my body and health wonders.

  • Buying things just to earn points or rewards- I always used to fall victim to feeling the need to buy things just to earn rewards. I would have lots of fast food apps or store credits and buy things just to earn points or rewards and then I would forget to use the free items. Now, I make it a point to try to not fall into the traps of buying things just to get the reward or discount.

  • Reading or watching multiple things at once- There was a point when I would be watching multiple shows or reading multiple books at one time. Now, I stick to a one book or show mentality. I only binge watch one show at a time, but will watch a weekly show if it's in season. The same goes for reading, I would sometimes listen to one audiobook, read a hard copy book, and read on my phone. Now, I stick to reading one book at a time, and maybe occasionally listen to one or I listen to a podcast. It saves me the confusion of multiple storylines and I’m able to enjoy my books more.

  • Hobbies or interests that no longer suit me- I absolutely hate saying no or giving up on things, but there have been times when I have tried things and they weren’t for me and I walked away from them. For example, a few years ago, I decided to give piano a try. I taught myself and practiced for a year but ultimately decided that it wasn’t for me. I said no to something that wasn’t bringing me joy.

  • Overbooking- This is easier said than done, but I have been trying to doing less overbooking. I used to try and cram as much in a day as possible, and now I really try to make it a priority to leave more space in my calendar and schedule. I like the flexibility and sometimes I get overwhelmed by adding too much to my plate at one time. Now, I try to spread things out over the course of my weekend or I will have a busier day and then a lighter day for my weekend. This is still a work in progress, but I am working on trying to get better by not overscheduling.

That’s a look of life lately and what’s new with me and my thoughts on things I have said no to. I’m sure there are plenty of other areas and things in my life that I have said no to, but there are the top things that come to mind. What are some things you have said no to? I would love to know! Have a great rest of your week and I will see you back here on Friday!
