Let’s Look: Free Things That Bring Us Joy
Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week. We started to say goodbye to summer this weekend with grilling and ice cream!
It was a great way to start to say goodbye to summer, as fall starts to set in, that means later sunrises and mornings.
A beautiful start to the week.
The week is here, I am running my first marathon this weekend. I plan to share a post about what I learned about training after the race. Here’s a post I did over a year ago after I ran my first ½ Marathon.
One big thing I have learned through training is how crucial preparation is when running. This week has been all about prep.
Throughout the year, we have covered A LOT of ground.
Here’s a look at some of the topics,
In January we chatted about Things We Outsource Without Regret
In February, we talked aboutWays We Are Turning Into Our Parents.
In March, we shared about Favorite Family Vacations
In April, we talked all about The Hardest Things We Have Done.
In May, the topic was all about Making Couple Friends
In June we talked about Things We Are Making More Time For
In July, we chatted about Our Summer Selves and How It’s Different.
In August, the topic was about about The Things We Miss
Today, we are highlighting Free Things that Bring Us Joy!
This is such a fun topic since there are so many little, free things that bring me joy! Plus, I try to be a positive person and I like to look on the bright side of things.
The Library- I love to read and I typically go through a book a week, but books can be costly and sometimes, I may not always end up liking the book enough to keep it forever. I love supporting my local library and seeing and checking out new books. A cool thing about my library is they will tell you how much you save by supporting your local library. So far, this year, I have saved over $900 by supporting the library.
Kindness- You can’t buy kindness. Whether it’s a short text message, a phone call, a conversation, or time. There’s nothing better than someone sharing some kindness with you or passing it along. Especially when it comes to friendships, I love an unexpected text message compared to a gift in the mail. Plus when others are kind to you, you may share that kindness with someone else.
Krispy Kreme Free Donuts when the light is on. - If you have a Krispy Kreme donut shop by you, you may know what I am referring to. But whenever the red light is on at the store, you can get a free, hot glazed donut. My husband taught me this years ago and whenever we see the light on, we always stop!
Nature- I LOVE being outdoors and try to embrace every season, yes, even the cold, rainy, and snowy ones. The beauty of nature is free and can be enjoyed no matter your situation in life. Whenever I am having a tough day or need a reset, a walk outside does wonders for me.
Being surrounded by family and friends- There’s nothing better than being surrounded by my people. The older I get, the more I treasure time spent with family and friends. Whether it is gathering for a family occasion or just a weekend that everyone is home together, I love spending time with my brothers. The same goes for friends, I have friends from different areas of life and I cherish the time spent with them whether it’s with a phone call, facetime, dinner date, or outing, there’s nothing better than being with your people.
A Clean and Organized Space- This can cost money, but it doesn’t have to. I love the feeling and satisfaction of a clean and organized space. Yes, it may take time and energy, but it’s worth it to have a tidy space. When my space is clean, my mind is clear too. Whether it’s my car, room, house, or desk. I love having open spaces to work and live.
I truly love the little things in life and I know I am missing a dozen things that bring me joy at no cost, but these are the top that come to mind. What are some things that bring you joy that you love? Share them with me below! Happy Wednesday friends and I’ll see you on Friday for another roundup of favorite things!
